Our values are: Integrity | Compassion | Accountability | Respect | Engagement The opportunity The purpose of the role is to provide direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, support and education to nursing staff within the Emergency Department to ensure best practice and quality patient care to patients of all ages and cultural groups, recognising the importance of individuals and their families. The Emergency Department The Emergency Department at the Townsville University Hospital is a 65-bed space Emergency Department with 3 resuscitation bays, 12-bed paediatric assessment area as well as dedicated rooms for plastering/suturing, ophthalmology/ENT, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Medical Imaging is located within the department for plain x-ray and a dedicated CT scanner is adjacent to the department. There is a co-located 16 bed Short Stay Unit. Candidate Requirements * Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory. * Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus. * Highly Desirable: Experience in Emergency Department and a current Adult Life Support certificate. * Adult Life Support certificate: Must be able to obtain and then maintain an annual competency in Advanced Life Support as per Townsville Hospital and Health Service policy Life Support Training and Assessment -THSDCLI040151v6 (http://qheps.health.qld.gov.au/tville/policies/thsdcli/thsdcli040151.pdf) * Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster. * This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis. * On call: Appointees may be required to participate in an on-call roster. Generous remuneration package value up to $121,464 p.a. (full-time) * Salary rates between $3171.90 - $4068.50 p.f. or $41.73 - $53.53 p.h.
