About the opportunity The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing primary health care to the young people within the youth detention setting. Responsibilities include medication administration, health assessments and education, health screening, chronic disease care, responding to emergencies and working within a multidisciplinary team to provide equitable and safe care. The purpose of the Registered Nurse is to deliver timely holistic client care according to scope of practice, within a primary health care model in a detention health setting as prescribed by policy, clinical standards, clinical guidelines and protocols, workplace instructions and the Youth Justice Act 1992. (casual rate) (NG5) * Locality and uniform allowance * 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation * Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available Requirements: * Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory. * Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus. * Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include 8 and 12 hr shifts. * Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty. * The applicant ideally will have a working knowledge of a range of software packages used in the clinical and management environment, including the Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, and Power Point. * This is a VPD risk role.
