Who we are The Communication and Media Branch delivers integrated communication services to the department and our ministers' offices. We partner to achieve business objectives and outcomes through evidence-based, integrated communication and media services for industry, community and business. Do you have a knack for strategic communication and a desire to make a meaningful impact? We are seeking a Public Affairs Officer 2 to join our dynamic Strategic Communications Hub. The key duties of the position include The Job Providing strategic advice and services to internal clients on strategic communication issues. Undertake new, complex or critical public affairs work, under a routine level of supervision. Develop and implement communication strategies for public affairs activities. Prepare materials for public relations or public communications activities. Edit the work of PAO1s and/or other contributors. Advise internal stakeholders regarding communications approaches and strategies. Brief enabling and delivery services and suppliers such as graphic designers, video production, web design and publishing. Prepare submissions, briefs and correspondence. Undertake research and analysis of issues relevant to the work area and undertake evaluation of the impact of communications strategies, including making recommendations for change as needed. Liaise within the department and assist in liaison with external stakeholders as appropriate. Arrange and support meetings, events and working groups. Manage or assist in managing a team including leading, developing, coaching and providing constructive feedback to staff, monitoring budgets and team performance. Liaise and negotiate with external stakeholders, industry, community, media and government organisations. Please note that the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
