The key duties of the position include The Role The APS 5 Project Finance Support officer within the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Program Office (UASPO) will be accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve project work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements. The APS 5 Project Finance Support officer will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice relating to the budget, costs and financial analysis of projects based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessments and investigations and perform administrative support work to achieve results. The APS 5 Project Finance Support officer will coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members. They may be a team coach or supervise a team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate work, and manage workflows and performance. They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit. This role has been identified as requiring access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) controlled technology. The ITAR is United States (US) law which regulates Defence articles, including technical data, and defence services on the United States Munitions List. Access restrictions may apply on the basis of currently held/previously held citizenship, as well as current permanent residency. Defence may be able to utilise workforce exemptions to mitigate these restrictions, which generally requires that applicants provide details of all current citizenships and permanent residencies, as well as previously held citizenships. Defence collects these details to confirm an applicant's eligibility for the role and to maintain compliance with international obligations. The successful candidate for this role will be required to "work on-site" (as required). About our Team The Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Program Office (UASPO) resides within Army Aviation Systems Branch (AASB) in Joint Aviation Systems Division (JASD) of the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG). UASPO are trusted to consistently and safely deliver against agreed requirements for the Capability Manager, with the best value for money outcomes. We work closely with, and are proud of the strong relationships with our Defence and Industry stakeholders. UASPO is based in Brisbane, with detachments located in Canberra, Adelaide and Melbourne. Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate will possess the ability to work under limited direction to perform and achieve complex contracting and budget work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements. They will have an excellent attention to detail and have the ability to collaborate across Government and industry to achieve high quality outcomes. To be successful in this role, you will bring the following attributes and skills to the role: Deliver budget support, including coordination of budget preparation, financial performance monitoring and reporting in accordance with Defence policies and procedures. Prepare and provide advice on complex budgeting to stakeholders in Defence. Evaluate and interrogate financial data to ensure the accuracy of financial information in reports and systems. Apply financial and budgeting knowledge and undertake objective and systematic analysis to draw accurate conclusions based on evidence. Engage, listen and respond to enquiries, provide complex advice and communicate messages clearly and concisely. Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in teamwork and group activities. Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
