In This Role As a Principal Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping solutions that empower businesses and enhance customer experiences. Your contributions will create meaningful impact for customers, communities, and the future of banking: Contributing to data-driven, customer-centric features and fostering a culture of innovation. Exploring emerging AI-assisted tools and working closely with engineering squads across the Group. Helping shape architectural standards and partnering on exciting design challenges. Translating ideas into practical engineering solutions and supporting squad members. Sharing knowledge through code reviews, documentation, and problem-solving. Mentoring and coaching engineers, helping them grow their careers. We’d love to hear from you if you have: Core Technical Skills Experience applying AI/ML to accelerate product development. Proficiency in Python, Java, or similar languages. Familiarity with AI tools and frameworks such as Anthropic Claude, Llama, LiteLLM, Cursor, Windsurf / Codeium, VO Vercel, Continue, Aider, Cline, LangChain, LangGraph, Hugging Face. Knowledge of AWS (including Sagemaker, Bedrock) and Azure. Understanding of microservices architecture, containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud-native solutions. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevSecOps practices. Agile development and iterative experimentation from prototype to production. Leadership & Collaboration A passion for supporting and developing others, sharing knowledge, and helping engineers grow. Ability to build strong relationships across teams and align technical decisions with business goals. Experience contributing to architectural standards and solving design challenges collaboratively.
