Platform Engineer - Major Defence Project NV1 or NV2 security clearance required Permanent position Expected salary of $140,000 to $160,000 plus superannuation Expected start date in February/March 2026 We are partnering with a large system integration business who are looking to deliver a huge piece of cloud work for Defence. Our client are searching for a Platform Engineer to support in delivering this significant project which will transform the way in which our Defence force works and operates. In this role, the Platform Engineer will creating and managing scalable, reliable and secure platforms that enable software development and deployment. The Platform Engineer will focus on automation, IaC and CI/CD practices to streamline workflows and improve efficiency. You must hold an active or reinstatable NV1 or NV2 security clearance to be considered for this role. Key responsibilities: Platform design and development - design and implement scalable and secure platforms, develop IaC solutions (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation), build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software delivery. Infrastructure Management - manage cloud and on-prem infrastructure, monitor and optimise platform performance and reliability, implement and maintain containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Automation and scripting - automate repetitive tasks and workflows, develop scripts and tools to support platform operations and maintenance. Monitoring and troubleshooting - monitor platform health and performance (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, etc), troubleshoot and resolve platform-related issues including outages and performance bottlenecks. Security and compliance - implement security best practices and ensure compliance with organisational and regulatory standards (ISM, DSPF, E8). Skills needed to succeed: Strong knowledge of GCP cloud platforms Infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible and CloudFormation Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools (Docker and Kubernetes) Experience using CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI) Use of monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash and PowerShell If this is a role you could succeed in, please apply with your most up to date CV.
