The Role An opportunity has become available for a Peer Worker (Identified Lived Experience) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia. You will * Provide individualised, one-to-one peer support, practical assistance, education, inspiration, and shared wisdom from a personal lived experience perspective * Promote positive expectations of wellbeing and recovery to consumers and staff * Mutually engage consumers in making self-determined positive changes towards recovery-oriented strengths, aspirations and goals * Work collaboratively with the clinical staff to support admission, care and discharge processes, and to complement existing services to assist consumers on their recovery journey About you To be successful in this position you will require: * It is highly desirable that applicants hold a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or can demonstrate that they are working towards obtaining these qualifications * Possession of, or working towards, the Introduction to Mental Health and Peer Support in the Community Accredited Skill Set will be highly regarded * Possession of, or working towards, a Certificate IV in Mental Health, or Certificate IV in Community Services, will be well-regarded * Driver Licence * Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B * Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required * Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed * Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost) Benefits * Flexible work options * Career Development * Salary Packaging * Modern Facilities * Diverse Work Culture * Research Opportunities * 12.75% super * 17.5% leave loading Salary * Permanent part time (36 hrs p.f) * Base salary ranging from $38.81 - $43.16 per hour About Us The Continuing Care Team provide recovery focused, to consumers with complex and enduring mental illness with co-morbid bio-psycho-social needs. Continuing Care Team provide services in conjunction with non-government and government agencies to support consumer recovery. These services provide daily follow up for consumers living in the community to support them to remain within their home setting. It is the aim of this service to offer a recovery-oriented approach that is person-centred, strengths based, collaborative and empowering. There is an emphasis on consumer choice, building resilience and enhancing opportunities for social inclusion.
