Payroll Officer Melbourne-based | Full time or Part Time Kinetic is Australia and New Zealand’s largest bus operator and a proud employer of over 6,000 people. We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our People team, in either a FULL TIME or PART TIME Capacity supporting payroll operations for a large, diverse workforce. This is a critical role ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, employee record management, and compliance with legislation and industrial instruments. About the Role As our Payroll Officer, you’ll work across multiple pay cycles – weekly, fortnightly, and monthly – covering both wages and salaried staff. You’ll be responsible for processing payroll data, maintaining accurate employee records, and providing support and advice to managers and staff on payroll matters. This role would suit a resilient, detail-oriented payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building strong working relationships across the business. Key Responsibilities Process payroll data accurately and on time across multiple pay frequencies Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in line with company policy and legislation Interpret and apply various Enterprise Agreements and Awards Prepare payroll reconciliations and reports Support compliance with PAYG, superannuation, and payroll tax obligations Deliver high-quality payroll advice to stakeholders and respond to government enquiries as required Contribute to continuous improvement and payroll-related projects What We’re Looking For Prior experience in end-to-end payroll processing Experience with iChris / TIMS Payroll desirable Strong understanding of relevant employment legislation, Awards and EA interpretation Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Advanced computer literacy including Excel Ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain confidentiality What We Offer A supportive, close-knit team within a well-established and growing organisation Exposure to a large and diverse payroll across multiple sites Opportunities to contribute to process improvement and best practice Career development within the wider People & Culture team Apply now and play a key role in ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time, every time.
