About the Role The Partnerships Manager is responsible for generating revenue through the strategic acquisition and management of brand partnerships for SXSW Sydney. Reporting to the Head of Partnerships, this role leads business development and relationship management across key industry categories—securing partnerships through activations and sponsorships. With a consultative approach and clear understanding of partner goals, the role plays a key part in driving the commercial success and growth of SXSW Sydney’s partnership program. Drive high-impact branded marketing programs—from pitch to execution—for partners ranging from startups to global brands Build and nurture strong relationships with brand partners, agencies, and stakeholders, offering expert guidance on sponsorship strategy and audience engagement Collaborate with Programming team to connect brands and talent while staying true to SXSW Sydney’s creative and programming principles Lead contract negotiations ranging from in-depth business terms to detailed legal language Oversee end-to-end partnership delivery, from concept development through to campaign activation and post-event wrap-up Measure and report on sponsorship success, delivering insights to partners and SXSW Sydney leadership Partner with Operations and Marketing to align sponsorship packages with delivery capabilities and cost structures Stay ahead of industry trends and actively seek out new partnership opportunities within relevant sectors About You: What are we looking for? We’re looking for someone who brings a genuine curiosity for the future – someone who keeps up to date with industry news and has an active interest or existing contacts in sectors like technology, finance, cybersecurity, consulting, education, health, science, and robotics. The ideal candidate will understand how brands in these spaces think and operate, and can translate that insight into compelling partnership opportunities with SXSW Sydney. Skills & Attributes: Proven track record in commercial partnerships, sponsorships, and branded activations in the events industry Collaborative, team-first mindset with a hands-on, can-do approach Skilled at juggling multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude Detail-oriented and creative, with strong execution skills Quick-thinking problem solver with the ability to adapt to the fast-paced, unpredictable nature of global event production Proficiency with common business, sales management and communication software: Microsoft Office Suite, Monday.com, Canva, Zoom.
