Operator Maintainer - Pilbara

The Role Cockburn Cement is seeking a safety-focused and hands-on Maintainer Operator to join our Pilbara operations in Port Hedland. Reporting to the Pilbara Supervisor, this role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of plant and equipment used for unloading, storing, decanting, and loading transport trucks in line with daily and weekly schedules. You will work closely with the site team to ensure operational continuity, maintain equipment, and contribute to improvement initiatives across the facility. This position includes a generous Housing Allowance to support local living arrangements in the Port Hedland region. Responsibilities Operate and maintain mobile and fixed plant to support daily and weekly operational plans. Perform mechanical servicing and minor repairs on plant and equipment. Coordinate internal and external resources under direction of the Supervisor. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality systems. Promote a positive safety culture and lead by example in applying Life Saving Rules. Report activities, incidents, near misses, and quality issues; support investigations and implement improvements. Ensure contractors meet Sitepass compliance requirements. Work collaboratively within the team and support continuous improvement initiatives. Engage in special projects and deliver assigned improvement tasks. Maintain strong communication with customers and stakeholders. About You Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar operational or team-based role. Strong understanding of warehouse or logistics processes. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to replace parts and troubleshoot equipment. Experience operating telehandlers (or equivalent machinery). Knowledge of WHS systems, operational risk assessment, and safe work practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in diverse teams and support change initiatives. Computer literacy (MS Outlook) and ability to follow digital work instructions. Required Licences & Tickets Current WA Driver’s Licence. Forklift Licence. Telehandler Operator Ticket. EWP & Working at Heights. First Aid certification.
