Who we are Cargo Operations South and Detector Dogs (COS&DD) Branch delivers regulatory assessment and inspections of goods across the biosecurity continuum (offshore, at the border and onshore) to verify compliance with Australia's biosecurity and imported food requirements and has a presence in Victoria and Tasmania. The branch is also responsible for national delivery of client contact services, along with biosecurity detector dog program policy, training, and operations. The Cargo Operations Business Management (COBM) Team provides management support to the cargo operations pathway to drive consistency and improvement in business management practices. This includes financial management, parliamentary process coordination, governance coordination, operational business support, business continuity planning, performance measure reporting, business planning, procurement, coordinated pathway recruitment, client compensation claims processing and client feedback management. COBM also contributes to broader strategic innovation and improvement projects for the pathway. The key duties of the position include The Job The main duties of a Manager within COBM's Cargo Budget Management team may include, but are not limited to: • leading and managing the performance of a small geographically dispersed team • supporting the Assistant Director and Director on matters relating to financial governance, budget development and forecasting activities for the cargo operations pathway • processing invoices, journals and accruals • analysing credit card transactions and expense transaction listings • contributing to financial analysis to drive improved business outcomes for the cargo operations pathway which includes identifying and developing solutions to budget risks • supporting the development of financial and budget business processes, strategies and instructional material for the COBM team • developing and maintaining professional working relationships with stakeholders to promote the collaborative exchange of budget and business information • drafting executive briefs, budget variance reports, monthly forecasting reports and documents to inform budget meetings • coordinating and managing the procurement of supplier goods and services for the Cargo Operations Pathway. Please note that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill one ongoing vacancy and that the role may be able to be performed from any of the locations listed above .
