These include developments in payments and clearing and settlement systems. About the team The Payments Efficiency and Competition (PEC) team is focused on promoting the efficiency and competitiveness of retail payment systems through data collection, analysis and regulation. The team works on topics such as merchant card payment costs, surcharging, buy-now-pay-later payments, and the implications of rapid growth in mobile payments and other payments trends. About the role As one of two managers in the PEC team, you will work with a team of 2-3 analysts and a senior manager on a range of priority topics, including the current Review of Merchant Card Payment Costs and Surcharging, progressing the Bank’s ‘least-cost routing’ initiatives, and implementing other major payments regulatory reforms. The role will involve producing high-quality analysis for the Bank’s senior leadership and the Payments System Board. This role is an opportunity to demonstrate and develop a range of skills, particularly related to team leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement. You will coach and develop capabilities within your team, work with colleagues in other sections and departments on cross-cutting topics, and engage with industry stakeholders and other policy agencies. About you We would love to hear from candidates who have: Experience in or demonstrated interest in people leadership. Experience in payments regulation will be highly regarded. Strong critical thinking skills to guide and produce analysis on complex analytical topics. An ability to write clearly and succinctly, with the intended audience in mind. Highly effective communication and strong stakeholder engagement skills. Strong work planning and organisation skills. An ability and willingness to champion, drive and communicate change initiatives across functions and within the team.
