ROLE OVERVIEW The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting department and ensuring the finance team maintains an efficient, organised, and accurate financial function. This role involves managing a wide range of day-to-day financial operations, including sales and purchase ledgers, reconciliations, and general bookkeeping. The Finance Manager also supports financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance activities to help ensure the company’s financial integrity and operational efficiency. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES Plan, organize, and execute financial tasks and projects of the organization Make estimates of funds required for the short and long-term financial objectives of the organization. Complete financial reports, lead the month-end closing process and conduct monthly financial forecast. Achieve a proper mix of equity and debt to minimize cost and maximize operational profit. Strategize on fund procurement through banks and other financial institutions. Prudently make investments on assets that maximize returns Provide financial insight and analysis to drive the business performance of the organization. Manage and monitor metrics, KPI tracking, and reports. Evaluate the financial performance of the organization and measure returns on investments. Understand and calculate the risks involved in the financial activities of the organization. Oversee production of month-end management accounts including preparation of accruals and prepayments schedules, ensuring all balance sheet accounts have been fully reconciled. Preparation of monthly stock reconciliation ensuring any discrepancies are investigated, resolved, and correctly accounted for. Production of monthly management reports including the provision of insightful commentary explaining variances between actuals versus budget, forecast, and prior year. Assist the FD with the implementation of financial reporting deadlines ensuring all deadlines are adhered to. Working closely with the Product Development, Marketing, and Operations teams to ensure spending is on track and in line with budget. Analysis of monthly sales by product, brand, market, and customer. Preparation of weekly flash sales report. Preparation of quarterly royalty statements for submission to external licensors. Management of royalty advance payments and minimum guarantees, maintaining accurate reconciliations of royalties reported versus payments made. Preparation of quarterly sales forecasts by brand for submission to licensors. Overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable including review of weekly payment runs and highlighting areas of concern to the FD in a timely manner. Initially, this role may involve some processing of AP invoices. As we upgrade our systems and automate processes, this part of the role will transition to the Finance Assistant. Preparation and submission of the quarterly VAT return. Assist the HOF with the preparation of quarterly forecasts, annual budget, and quarterly cashflow forecasts. Support the HOF in reviewing financial processes as well as implementing controls and efficiencies where necessary. Production of year-end reports and schedules and liaison with external accountants for the preparation of the statutory accounts. KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, with strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and compliance requirements. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams while maintaining accurate accounting operations and internal controls. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide strategic financial insights to support business goals. Proficient in accounting and ERP systems and advanced Excel/data analysis. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement This position is office based, and this individual will be expected to work in office Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously PERSON SPECIFICATION Technical Expertise Qualified accountant (CPA, CA CIMA) Proven experience (typically 5–10 years) in accounting, finance, or audit roles, with at least 2–3 years in a management or supervisory capacity. Special Aptitudes Proficient in the use of the MS Office suite Experience within a fast-paced and high energy environment An aptitude for executing business improvement initiatives Experience troubleshooting problems and providing recommendations on overcoming challenges Ability to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround Able to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information Excellent judgment is essential. Ability to switch gears at a moment’s notice High-impact communication skills with the ability to influence Ability to nurture collaborative relations Relentless focus on stakeholder needs and service excellence Ability to work under pressure with a positive “can do” attitude Superb time management, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills The above are the primary experiences, skills and competencies that the job holder will be required to demonstrate and to cultivate over time.
