The Freedom of Information (FOI) and Decision Review Section of the Therapeutic Goods Administration is seeking a motivated and high performing Assistant Director to join their team. Working under supervision of the Director of the FOI & Decision Review section, the Assistant Director will be required to manage a small team of FOI practitioners processing FOI requests to the TGA, in accordance with the FOI Act 1982. They will also support Internal Review and Information Commission processes as required, as well as providing advice about the operation of the FOI Act and in relation to processing FOI requests The key duties of the position include Leading a small team to manage requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, including: Managing TGA FOI requests, including processing requests within the statutory timeframe. Managing work streams and work allocations within the FOI and Decision Review team and ensuring that the team is appropriately resourced. Ensuring FOI requests are processed to a high standard within relevant statutory timeframes. Ensuring requests for internal merits review of regulatory decisions under HPRG legislation (including the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (TG Act) and Narcotic Drugs Act 1967 (ND Act) are allocated to decision makers within HPRG in a timely manner and monitoring allocated decisions to ensure that statutory timeframes are met. Support FOI internal merits review matters, including: Supervising the FOI team in relation to managing procedural aspects of the FOI process; and Providing training to HPRG officers in relation to good FOI practice, the FOI process and other relevant aspects of FOI, as needed, including in cooperation with legal advisers within the Regulatory Legal Services Division. Developing and implementing systems and processes to manage FOI and decision review practices. Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and HPRG's internal clients, including relationships with practice managers in the Department's Legal Division to support consistency and coordination where appropriate, in relation to FOI and decision review, and to capture and share learnings and identify opportunities to cooperate. Developing and providing training on FOI processes for HPRG's internal clients. Supporting the Internal Review and Information Commission processes as required, including by assisting with drafting submissions to the IC in response to IC reviews and IC complaints if necessary
