About us The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services. About the role This is a Fixed term, full-time position for 36 months. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the Department of Government Services' (DGS) ambitious agenda to improve the cost of living for all Victorians. DGS is committed to embedding evaluation and performance across its work, and to maximising data opportunities for continuous improvement. The VPS4 Evaluation and Performance Officer will support teams across DGS to generate high quality data and insights that strengthen program effectiveness and efficiency. The role involves contributing to the design and delivery of evaluations, analysing large data sets, and assisting in the development of monitoring and data collection frameworks. You will apply qualitative and quantitative methods to assess program implementation and performance, producing clear, evidence-based insights and recommendations. The role also supports the preparation of external evaluation briefs and, where appropriate, helps teams engage with external evaluators. We are seeking candidates with experience in data analysis, modelling, evaluation, program design or administration, with an understanding of Victorian public sector and government processes highly desirable. You will join a small, dynamic team that values your analytical data expertise and works closely with staff across DGS at both program and operational levels. About you To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate: * Experience supporting the design and delivery of evaluations and performance activities applying qualitative and quantitative methods to generate clear, evidence-based insights. * Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools (e.g. SPSS, R or similar) with the ability to work with large datasets, undertake statistical analysis and modelling, and communicate findings effectively. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate reports and briefs, and work collaboratively with program teams, policy officers, and external evaluators. * Ability to think critically and creatively, draw on diverse information sources, and contribute to improvements in monitoring, evaluation and performance practices. * Strong organisational and project coordination skills, including managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and working both independently and as part of a dynamic team. For specific responsibilities please review the attached position description. Qualifications A tertiary qualification in evaluation, social or behavioural sciences, economics, public policy/administration or related field is desirable. Specialist expertise Experience applying statistical and modelling techniques to support evaluation projects and evidence-based policy is highly desirable.
