The Opportunity: Join Sims Metal at their Brooklyn VIC site as an Engineering Fabrication Apprentice . This is a fantastic chance to gain hands on experience in a dynamic environment while completing a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (MEM31922) over a nominal duration of 48 months. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals and develop skills that will set you up for a successful career in the metal recycling industry. Benefits: Full-time role with 38 hours per week and one rostered day off per month. The ability to earn money while learning a trade Obtain a Nationally recognised qualification Mentoring from experienced industry professionals All training fees paid for PPE provided throughout the apprenticeship Duties may include: Examining and understanding detailed drawings and specifications to determine the requirements for the task Managing plant operations and performing running repairs. Using hand and machine tools and welding equipment. Using various techniques which include welding, bolting, and riveting to align, assemble, and fix pieces together to create parts and structures. Operating overhead cranes and using basic hand and power tools. Adding finishing touches to products in the form of cleaning, polishing, filing, and adding protective or decorative finishes. Working with hydraulic equipment and other machinery.
