You'll connect people, ideas and investment to help our community and economy thrive. What you'll do As an Economic Development Strategist, you'll lead initiatives that grow and diversify the Southern Highlands economy. You'll use your strategic insight, strong relationships, and understanding of business and market trends to connect people, ideas, and opportunities that drive meaningful outcomes for our community. Working closely with the Manager Strategic Outcomes, you will: Develop and implement strategies that attract investment, strengthen local businesses, and grow our local economy. Build and leverage relationships with business leaders, industry partners, and government agencies to identify opportunities and influence positive outcomes. Facilitate networks, partnerships, and discussions that bring stakeholders together to deliver shared objectives. Identify emerging trends, funding and investment opportunities that benefit the Wingecarribee Shire. Collaborate across Council to align planning, procurement, and place-based initiatives with economic development priorities. Why Wingecarribee? What you'll need to succeed (Essential Criteria) Degree qualification in Economics, Marketing, Business Administration, Public Administration or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years' experience in Economic Development or a related field Proven track record in new business attraction and strategies and tactics for business retention. Demonstrated research and analytical skills with ability to monitor and critically reflect on outcomes in an economic development context. High level of business acumen, global market trends and economic influences together with sound understanding of the needs of small, medium and large business. Demonstrated well developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external, with an ability to influence.
