The Digital Media Content Officer role is an exciting opportunity to support the Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General (the Office) showcase the role of the Governor-General in modern Australia. This includes the Office's focus on increasing understanding of civics and our institutions of government, the Australian Honours system, as well as the community engagement the Governor-General undertakes. Working to the Digital Media Manager, the new position will produce high-quality visual and written content for official digital media channels (including social media channels and website). The position is part of the Office's Engagement and Communications Branch, which is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for both conceiving, planning and delivering the Governor-General's program. The Digital Media Content Officer will be required to accompany the Governor-General to events (including occasional domestic travel and events outside business hours). The role requires a combination of technical expertise, creative skill, and an understanding of the role of the Governor-General. The key duties of the position include Assist the Social Media Manager in planning, capturing, and editing high-level formal photography for official events, ceremonies, and engagements Produce and edit short-form videos suitable for social media, ensuring content is appropriate for public, official, and ceremonial contexts Draft accurate, engaging captions and copy for social media posts, reflecting the Office's tone, style, and messaging guidelines Contribute to the broader Engagement and Communication Branch, working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team (which includes a photographer, writers and event delivery personnel).
