The key duties of the position include The Role The Data and Analytics Branch is looking to fill an EL 1 vacancy for the role of Deputy Director Data Integration and Interoperability in the Directorate of Data and Information Architecture. The position is a hands on role with leadership responsibilities and is suited to individuals with a data architecture and/or cyber background. The role and function is critical in the ongoing integration and interoperability of data across Defence and with Coalition stakeholders. Responsible for engaging with stakeholders on simple and complex business requirements, the position develops and provides advice on integration designs to meet interoperability requirements. The role engages with a range of highly technical teams and military functions to realise defined outcomes. Additional responsibilities and duties include: Leveraging your experience, training and knowledge to support continued alignment of the One Defence Data Capability to the departmental and business requirements. Work with highly technical teams on contemporary technology to translate business objectives into technical activities. With the broader operations team, plan, manage and coordinate interoperability outcomes for delivery. The role exercises significant influence on data outcomes within Data Division and across Defence. It is a key role in supporting the Department of Defence to realise data and analytics priorities. About our Team The Directorate of Data and Information Architecture is responsible for the realisation of the One Defence Data Platform and data capabilities that enable Defence. The team is primarily focussed on the transformational change as a result of the One Defence Data Capability. The transition from traditional, often siloed, data warehousing to a federated modern data platform where data products are discoverable and readily shared across the Department in additional to realising significant uplift in analytics in critical areas of the Department. This is a challenging and dynamic role. Our Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have the proven ability to: Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills for both technical and non technical elements of data and technology integrations. The ability to translate business objectives and aims into general and technical documentation. Has relevant technical knowledge of contemporary technologies that underpin data lake and lake house architectures for the management of data and development of analytical outcomes. Has technical knowledge across numerous data integration approaches with excellent critical analysis skills to translate requirements into architectural designs. Has applied knowledge of key international standards including military specific requirements Knowledge of data modelling practices. Demonstrated experience in applying risk management practices and managing risk. Ability to assess and prioritise assigned tasks in a dynamic environment. Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with other data professionals and business stakeholders to support and drive agile behaviours within a large and diverse program of works. Sound knowledge of the Department of Defence. Holds a NV2 security classification;
