The COP31 Surge Register (the Register) provides ongoing APS employees with the opportunity to register for upcoming temporary secondment opportunities with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water's (DCCEEW) COP31 team. Who we are Australia is bidding to host the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change's 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) in 2026, in partnership with the Pacific. If successful, COP31 will be held over three weeks in November 2026 in Adelaide. COP31 is a whole of Australian Government priority and will see representatives from governments across the globe, civil society and media come together to address the collective impacts of climate change. We're seeking high-performing ongoing APS professionals across APS5 - EL2 levels for Operations, Policy and Executive Support roles, including: Procurement and Contract Management International Engagement (Pacific and Global) Strategic Policy and Negotiations Event Logistics (Venues, Accommodation, Transport, Airports) Stakeholder Engagement First Nations Policy and Engagement Strategic Communications Event Planning, Coordination and Integration Corporate Capabilities (HR, Finance, Legal, Governance, Risk, Admin and Executive Support). Experience in major event delivery is highly regarded. Short-term domestic and international travel maybe required, as well as willingness to work outside core hours and travel at short notice. Secondments will initially be through to the end of December 2025. Security Clearance Required A security clearance may be required, depending on the role.
