The key duties of the position include The Role Headquarters Forces Command is seeking an APS 5 Business Intelligence Officer (BIO) to join our Business Support Team. This key role supports the efficient coordination of resources and business operations across the Headquarters. You will be part of a small, collaborative team responsible for resource management functions. The team is led by an APS 6 Business Analyst, whom you will support by providing timely and accurate advice on budget and financial management, reporting and compliance auditing. You will also have supervisory responsibilities for an APS 4 team member. Training will be provided for all Defence-specific systems and applications. While experience with tools such as SAP, Electronic Records Management Systems, or financial systems is highly regarded, it is not essential. We welcome applicants who are eager to learn and develop their skills in these areas. About our Team The Headquarters Forces Command Business Support Team is a small, integrated unit comprising full-time and part-time military personnel and APS employees. Together, the team plays a vital role in supporting the business operations of the Headquarters. Our Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Possess a sound understanding of, or a keen interest in, resource management; including budget tracking, reporting, invoice processing and reconciliations. Develop and maintain an understanding of Defence's corporate requirements, including relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including ADF members, APS personnel, and contractors. Have well-developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop skills in Defence systems and applications. Think critically and contributes to timely and accurate outcomes. Prioritise and manage their workload effectively to meet deadlines. Show initiative, resilience and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Work with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
