About Us Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. SCV The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts. About the Role The Honourable Chief Justice Richard Niall is looking for a legally qualified individual to be his Associate. The successful applicant will assist his Honour with his judicial role and with tasks particular to the administration of the office of the Chief Justice. The position will commence in February 2026. Duties include: * Preparing research and briefing memoranda and assisting in the production of judgments, including proof-reading and editing in compliance with the AGLC. * Clerking in hearings. * Performing administrative tasks, including maintaining Court records and preparing material for use by his Honour in hearings. * Researching and drafting speeches and articles on a variety of legal and policy topics. * Preparing updates on law reform. * Attending some meetings and engagements with his Honour. * Responsibility for ceremonial sittings and events. * Working closely with his Honour's personal staff to facilitate the efficient functioning of the chambers of the Chief Justice. * Liaising with Court staff, the public, government and the profession.
