About the team Procurement and Contract Management (PCM) area forms part of the Strategy, Performance, Program Delivery and Procurement branch sitting within the Chief Financial Officer Division (CFOD) and is instrumental in providing support, guidance, compliance and reporting relating to Procurement and Contract Management to the department. PCM area has three distinct teams: Procurement and Contract Management Support Services, Data & Systems, and Strategy, Governance and Policy. These three teams work together on different aspects of the creation and uplift of Procurement and Contract Management Capability for DISR and play a key role in supporting the Whole of Government Procurement and Contract Management Professional Stream. DISR actively engages in hundreds of procurement activities a year, ranging from transactional and routine to highly complex and strategic programs to support Government Policy. DISR Procurement supports the operations of (to name a few); Questacon National Science and Technology Centre The Australian Space Agency The National Artificial Intelligence Centre The Australian Radioactive Waste Agency The decommissioning of the Northern Endeavour, and The rehabilitation of the former British Nuclear test sites at Maralinga and Emu Fields. The Procurement and Contract Management team has a front row seat to assist DISR and the Australian Government to meet their changing needs through effective and efficient spending of public monies. Our ideal candidate Our ideal candidate is excited about the work we do, the service we provide and the challenges we face. They are a strong team player with excellent communication skills. They bring to the team an interest or background in either procurement and contract management or reporting and data analysis - as well as fresh ideas. Demonstrated experience in effectively managing high volumes of work and competing priorities Ability to manage the day-to-day operations of a team and supervise, manage and mentor junior staff Experience in enabling business by providing strategic advice, tools, and frameworks that simplify processes and improve capability across the organisation. Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and communicate decisions using professional judgement. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and a strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve high quality outcomes Demonstrated ability to provide tailored advice and guidance on complex operational or business functions, including analysis of data to identify trends and areas of capability uplift The key duties of the position include EL1s in the PCM team in DISR will: Guide and mentor less experienced employees, providing timely, effective and actionable feedback, monitoring deliverables and performance. Support and contribute to business development and continuous improvement in the Procurement and Contract Management space Contribute to the design, maintenance and update of policies and procedures including training and guidance material Provide advice to departmental business areas to enhance process compliance and effectiveness across procurement and contract management activities Prepare reports and analysis based on data from our TechOne system and our Quality Assurance framework To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
