We’re looking for an Assistant IT Systems Lead to manage our internal network and systems and lead the key members on our existing team. You’ll provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth IT operations. You’ll also handle IT procurement, configuration, and documentation while staying updated on industry trends. If you're passionate about rolling your sleeves and managing the team, this is the role for you. Responsibilities Team Leadership & Oversight: Lead and mentor IT Systems Technicians, providing both technical and process guidance. Monitor team workload, allocate resources, and ensure SLAs and KPIs are consistently met. Advanced Systems Administration: Perform advanced configuration, optimisation, and troubleshooting across enterprise IT systems (e.g., Microsoft 365, Jira, identity and access management platforms, and other business-critical applications). Act as the escalation point for complex issues requiring elevated permissions and ensure systems are maintained in line with security and compliance standards. Process & Governance: Define, enforce, and continuously improve IT operational processes. Ensure incidents, requests, and changes follow ITSM and ITIL best practices. Maintain up-to-date SOPs and system documentation. Project Collaboration: Partner with project managers and cross-functional teams to align IT resources with project requirements. Plan technician involvement in projects and ensure project-driven system changes comply with IT policies. Access & Security Management: Oversee access control and user lifecycle management across business systems. Enforce MFA, password policies, and security best practices. Conduct system audits and ensure alignment with the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM). Automation & Optimisation: Identify and implement opportunities for automation to improve efficiency in user management, access control, and system administration. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the liaison between IT Systems Technicians, vendors, and business stakeholders. Provide regular reporting on system health, incident trends, and team performance. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 5 years of experience in IT systems administration with proven expertise in: Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive). Jira administration (workflow design, permissions, integrations). Identity and access management (Azure AD, SSO, access control). Other enterprise IT systems relevant to business operations. Demonstrated leadership experience in managing or mentoring IT teams. Strong understanding of ITSM processes and governance standards, including ITIL practices.
