The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is seeking a candidate that is passionate about using their skills and knowledge to realise health benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers and communities. They will assist with guiding and influencing policy development and program design across NHMRC, support agency efforts to co-design with community as we contribute to Closing the Gap. You will be experienced with managing your own time and be able to work across teams, in the Branch and across the agency to get good results. As a team member you will be responsible for setting priorities, managing workflows, liaison, coordination and building and maintaining of critical and sensitive stakeholder relationships. You will use your excellent communication skills and high-level APS writing skills to support the Director, to deliver quality advice to NHMRC committees and the Executive Team. The key duties of the position include The key responsibilities and duties of the position are to: • Support the implementation of the Action Plan for Road Map 3, NHMRC's comprehensive 10-year strategic framework to improve the health of Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population • Assist with developing grant guidelines for Targeted Calls for Research into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, including establishment and management of expert advisory groups • Work with the NHMRC-MRFF IAG • Work collaboratively as part of a small and high performing team, to provide advice on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research across the agency • Develop high quality advice, correspondence, and briefing materials based on data analysis and sound evidence-based research • Represent NHMRC in a variety of forums with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to: • Communicate well with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external • Assist with maintaining productive working relationships, engage with stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes • Work independently, prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and manage workloads efficiently • Lead with purpose, assist with collaborating across the agency • Exercise judgement, assist with identifying and managing risks • Write and review complex written work to a consistent high standard • Represent the team, and supervise staff, as required.
