National Operations | Targeting & Intelligence Operations | ABF Intelligence The Australian Border Force (ABF) Intelligence Branch provides the ABF with insights into the threat environment as it relates to the border continuum, enabling our operational teams pre, at and post border to address risk and posture in response to the movement of illicit goods and people over the border. We operate with a clear responsibility to provide operational insights ensuring intelligence is fully integrated into the ABF operations. This strengthens the overall effectiveness of delivering a single unified vision of Intelligence across the ABF. This recruitment will seek to fill a number of existing and expected vacancies across ABF Intelligence branch including: Regional Intelligence Teams National Disruption Group (Illicit Tobacco and Vapes) Tobacco and Vapes Intelligence Financial Intelligence. Our ideal candidate Has an ability to lead an intelligence team, manage intelligence capability and resources Advises on workforce planning issues, supports and develops personnel through training, mentoring, formal and informal training Contributes to welfare and cultural initiatives, upholds APS values and standards, and demonstrates respect in the workplace Has an understanding of law enforcement, immigration and border threats, priorities and processes Demonstrates research, analytical and writing skills and an ability to communicate clearly and concisely through verbal and written briefs and assessments Can manage relationships, network, engage and collaborate with others to achieve tasks and deliver tangible intelligence and border outcomes Can inspire a sense of purpose, translate and communicate organisational objectives Can work under limited direction and has the ability to prioritise and effectively meet deadlines in a high-tempo environment. The key duties of the position include Lead an Intelligence team, manage intelligence capability and resources Cultivate new and maintain existing mutually beneficial and collaborative relationships with stakeholders Working under limited direction to deliver required intelligence outcomes through the efficient and effective leadership personnel and management of resources and capabilities Plan and scope highly complex or sensitive intelligence requirements (e.g. collection plans; stakeholder influence and guidance, task analysis and determine required outputs) Oversee or produce highly complex or sensitive intelligence analysis Develop, review, edit and disseminate highly complex or sensitive intelligence products ensuring accuracy, validity, reliability and timeliness Maintain and develop intelligence production capability, standards and tradecraft (e.g. leading team structured analytical technique sessions; suggesting improvements to processes or practices at Team, Section, Branch or Divisional forums; participating in product review and evaluation). Additional information Some positions will require a Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance to commence.
