As an Assistant Director at the Department of Education, you will contribute to Australia's growth in economic productivity and social wellbeing through improving access to quality education. The Higher Education Program Delivery Branch develops, implements and strives to continually improve programs and policies that deliver support for all students. In this role, you will work closely with other members of the branch to ensure all students have access to education experiences of the highest quality and standards to ensure successful outcomes. In this role within the Regional Education Commissioner Secretariat team, you will provide strategic advice and secretariat support to the Regional Education Commissioner. The Regional Education Commissioner role was established to provide independent advice to the Australian Government on improving education access, participation and attainment in regional and remote education across all stages of a student's education journey, from Early Childhood Education and Care through to Schools and Tertiary Education, including skills and training. As part of this role, the Commissioner and team engage with a large range of stakeholders across Australia, as well as undertaking research activities to inform the delivery of an annual report to the Minister for Education. The key duties of the position include In this role, your responsibilities will include the following: Provide advice on regional education issues and opportunities across Early Childhood Education and Care, Schools and Tertiary Education, including skills and training. Lead the coordination and preparation of high quality papers, submissions, briefs and reports on equity policies and programs based on research and analysis. Manage and deliver projects, programs, contracts and procurement. Effective management of program finances, including administration of payments and maintaining accurate financial records. Communicate, and maintain relationships, with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Analyse data from a broad range of sources to inform future policy and program direction. Maintain a well-developed understanding of policies, frameworks, and research relevant to the department, education sectors and also regional communities. Contribute to the leadership of the team, supervise staff and work collaboratively with others.
