What we do We regulate providers that deliver VET qualifications and courses to students in Australia or offer Australian qualifications internationally, providers that deliver VET courses to overseas students, and certain providers that deliver English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students. The key duties of the position include About the Opportunity We are seeking an Assessment Officer who supports the team in the conduct of assessments of initial applications to ensure only genuine applicants are approved to operate within the vocational education and training sector. Key responsibilities include: undertake a structured risk assessment of low-risk small-scope provider applications for initial registration under the NVETR Act and/or ESOS Act. undertake a structured financial viability risk assessment and fit and proper person suitability assessment of applicants. communicate with applicants to resolve issues associated with the submission of low-risk small scope NVETR and/or ESOS Act registration applications and notifications. ensure good administrative law decision-making principles are applied, by writing quality reports and preparation of statements of reasons documenting findings following assessment of applications. apply an understanding of and ability to interpret the relevant standards and legislation in relation to risk assessment and registration activities. process information and data received through sector and community sources to support ASQA's risk management framework. Skills and experience To succeed in this role, you will have: Knowledge and understanding of regulatory frameworks and the principles of effective regulation, and application of resources to manage risk and make clear, well-reasoned and timely recommendations in a fast-paced and changing environment. Ability to achieve outcomes, identify and promote opportunities for continuous improvement and manage change. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships that are characterised by co-operation and understanding. Ability to achieve results within the required timeframes while demonstrating resilience and flexibility. Demonstrated commitment in applying self and supporting team members with effective outcomes, understanding the agency wide priorities and key risks. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a variety of modes to audiences internal and external to ASQA.
