The key duties of the position include The Role We are looking for dynamic and motivated person to join our team in Logistics Officer Role within the Joint Logistics Unit East detachment located at Nowra. You will contribute to the delivery of superior customer service to support Defence logistics. The APS 5 Logistics Officer is responsible for a wide range of moderately complex logistic management functions, including governance and assurance, and provided oversight of all inventory management, demand management, and inventory tasks focused on supporting the customer and maintaining the reputation of the Unit. This role will also provide governance and assurance on tasks handed across to Industry Partners. Whilst primarily office based, some work will involve interaction within our warehouse and clothing store environment. Within the Logistics Management function, an APS 5 Logistics Officer, once trained, will be accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex logistics inventory management work within an integrated workforce. They will be accountable to have a good understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements. An APS 5 Logistics Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow, making decisions within their defined parameters relating to area of responsibility and will seek guidance when required. They will provide administrative support that is informed and directed by their knowledge of the Logistics Management function. They may undertake some research and analysis activities. The APS 5 Logistics Officer will be required to share information, monitor work practices, set work priorities and develop local procedures. They may be required to communicate with, respond and provide advice to a range of stakeholders on moderately complex operational and administrative issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development. The APS 5 Logistics Officer will be required to manage a small team of Commonwealth staff. They will be required to set and manage the workflow of their team, as well as undertake performance reviews and other management activities. About our Team Joint Logistics Unit (East) Nowra, located at HMAS Albatross, is a fast paced, transformative logistics unit with a diverse workforce of military, public servants and industry partners. We are committed to supporting our customers by providing quality advice and delivering the best solutions across multiple areas within Defence. Nowra is a detachment of Joint Logistics Unit (East) Headquarters located at Moorebank, focused on planning, assuring and governing the delivery of warehousing and distribution services, including aviation item management to Defence. You have a willingness to understand our logistics processes and procedures and the passion and ability to solve unique logistic challenges by applying your experience and knowledge. Ability to provide oversight of all inventory management, demand management, and inventory tasks focused on supporting the customer. Team management experience. To be successful in this role you should ideally possess the following: A self-motivated reliable team player who is passionate and keen to work in a dynamic customer service focused environment. As this is a mid-level position, an individual who wishes to develop and grow their career within a commonwealth government agency. People who are interested and/or passionate about Logistics Knowledge and experience of using office suites (Microsoft office, SAP) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Willingness to take on responsibility, desire to innovate and adaptability to a constantly shifting problem set
