Sharing language, memories, and moments that matter. We are looking for a kind and compassionate Croatian-speaking volunteer to spend time with an aged care resident living with dementia. This resident finds comfort in familiar language, gentle company, and simple moments shared with someone who understands their cultural background. Your visits might include chatting in Croatian, reading aloud, watching a favourite TV program together, or simply listening to music in a relaxed and unhurried way. What matters most is your presence — offering friendship, reassurance, and the joy of connection. This role suits someone who is patient, warm, and willing to give a small amount of their time each week to brighten the life of an older person. No special skills are needed beyond empathy, reliability, and a genuine wish to share companionship with someone who will truly appreciate it. By becoming a volunteer, you will be enriching a resident’s days with familiarity and kindness, while also experiencing the deep reward that comes from making a real difference in someone’s life. Requirements 18 years or older • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare plus NDIS Worker Screening Check • Ideally you’ll be available one hour a week for 6 months or longer, between Monday to Sunday (9am - 4pm).
