Manager, Data & AI (Governance) Lead Data Analytics/Governance practice at established compliance-focused organisation. Manage 4-5 reports deploying production ML models on cloud whilst establishing responsible AI policies. The Role Build AI governance from the ground up whilst managing a high-performing data and AI team. Split your time across: AI/ML Development (40%) - Deploy production ML models using Azure ML, Databricks, Azure OpenAI AI Governance (30%) - Build ISO 42001 compliance frameworks and responsible AI policies People Leadership (30%) - Lead, mentor and hold accountable a team of 4-5 engineers/scientists Report to Head of Data & Analytics (CFO stakeholder). Shape the organisation's AI strategy with executive visibility. What You'll Do AI/ML & Advanced Analytics Design and deploy end-to-end ML models and AI solutions using Azure stack Implement MLOps practices (model deployment, monitoring, CI/CD) Lead AI strategy including LLMs and emerging technologies Mentor team on ML, deep learning and advanced analytics AI Governance & Compliance Build AI governance frameworks from scratch (ISO 42001) Establish data governance processes (metadata, quality, lineage) Ensure regulatory compliance (privacy, security, responsible AI) Create policies for ethical, explainable and trustworthy AI Data Engineering & Leadership Oversee automated data pipelines and DataOps processes Lead BI initiatives using Power BI and Azure data infrastructure Set high technical standards and hold team accountable Have difficult conversations - we need backbone, not "too nice" Must Have Education & Experience: 7 years in ML/AI or advanced analytics 3 years in leadership roles Production ML deployment track record Technical Stack: Azure: Azure ML, Databricks, Synapse, Data Factory, Azure OpenAI, Functions Python: Pandas, NumPy, PyTorch/TensorFlow, MLflow, LangChain MLOps: Docker, CI/CD, model monitoring SQL: Advanced query optimisation Power BI: Dashboard development Governance: Data governance frameworks AI governance standards (ISO 42001 knowledge ideally) Regulatory compliance experience Leadership: Direct communicator who has experience with people management Balances supportive with demanding high standards Translates complex AI/ML to non-technical executives Track record mentoring engineers into senior roles Stand Out With Hands-on AI delivery experience Built and/or advised on AI governance frameworks in regulated industries ISO 42001 or responsible AI practices experience (nice to have) Recent hands-on technical work (last 2 years) Package Base: $180K-$190K super (~$201K-$213K total comp) Professional development budget Hybrid 3 days office / 2 days WFH Executive visibility and strategic influence You Are An AI/ML leader passionate about governance and compliance, not just model performance. You've stepped into management but maintain your technical edge. You challenge engineers/scientists/analysts on data specific projects whilst maintaining the long term growth and direction of the team. Critical: Hands-on AI/ML experience (Cloud (snowflake or Azure), Databricks, production ML) AND genuine passion for AI governance, compliance and responsible AI.
