Marketing and Communications Manager
THE ROLE Reporting to the CEO, the Marketing and Communications Manager will drive all marketing and communications activities to both internal and external stakeholders including members, sponsors and the media. This varied role will develop and implement the annual marketing and communications plan to include copywriting, social media, website and media management, club/member promotions and promoting club functions and events. The role also assists the Media Director during the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
To be successful in this role you will hold suitable tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications or similar with 5 years demonstrated experience in a dedicated marketing role, ideally from within the sporting industry. You will have proven experience in dealing with the media and hands-on expertise in digital/social media with the ability to write content for various audiences. You will be innovative and self-motivated, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail and meet deadlines in a fast paced work environment.
The ability to work independently as well as working collaboratively within the wider team structure is key, as is the capacity to build relationships and elicit cooperation from a diverse group of stakeholders. A strong affiliation with and understanding of sport business, or the sport of sailing would be an advantage. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY The Marketing and Communications Manager will oversee a team of three in the Marketing and Communications Department.
The role will be responsible for: Marketing preparation of marketing and communications plans brand management and compliance oversee production of all marketing and promotional material assist in developing club/member promotions assist in staging member and stakeholder functions Sponsorship sponsor liaison ensuring sponsorship obligations are fulfilled organise events/functions for sponsors assisting with publicising sponsorship leverage activities Media / PR act as CYCA media liaison produce bi-monthly Members magazine Offshore and Annual Report write feature stories prepare media releases and feature articles for sailing publications and social media manage websites and social media monitor the effectiveness of digital campaigns, including analysis of key metrics and data trends promote, attend and report on competition events assist Media Director during Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race LOCATION The position is located at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, 1 New Beach Road, Darling Point, NSW HOURS OF WORK This is a full time position. Given the unique nature of the sports industry, working outside of office hours will be required on occasion, in particular the peak period over December-January.
