Principal Researcher, Treaty
The Social Policy group is responsible for Aboriginal Victoria, Aboriginal affairs policy, treaty education, justice, health, human services and coordinating the National Disability Insurance Scheme. The group is also responsible for contributing to the development of strategic social services reforms, and monitoring and reporting on the delivery of all 227 Royal Commission into Family Violence recommendations. The role of Principal Researcher, Treaty within the Treaty Branch of the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) is a unique opportunity for an experienced researcher to work in a dynamic, ground breaking area with few precedents as Victoria pursues treaty in genuine partnership with Aboriginal Victorians.
The Principal Researcher will lead and deliver research and support policy making on treaty, and provide evidence-based advice to support the State negotiations team. The successful applicant will have extensive research experience, strong analytical skills and exceptional written communication skills. In addition to holding a post graduate qualification in a relevant field you will have experience and knowledge of treaty or other agreement making practices with Indigenous communities in Victoria or other jurisdictions.
