Do you love finding workable solutions for a range of people across the community including those on the National Insurance Disability Scheme? About the role We are looking for a part time Exercise Physiologist to offer members with a range of clinical exercise interventions including health and physical activity education, advice and lifestyle modification. Located at the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre in Ultimo, the role calls for liaising with a diverse community including school and university students, inner city dwellers, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and those aged over 55. We also work in partnership with a range of community organisations intent on helping people see exercise and leisure as a means of restorative physical and mental health.
If you are able to develop safe, effective and individualised exercise programs based on a patient’s medical history, and work across a range age groups, fitness levels, and needs we’d love to hear from you. Key to the role is also the ability to visit other allied health professionals to promote the Centre’s programs, and prepare and distribute weekly reports to government bodies and insurance agencies. What we are looking for in our ideal candidates: Sound experience in patient care and ideally in gyms, medical centres, hospitals, sports medicine research or professional sport 2 years of clinical experience Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science, or Bachelor of Applied Science Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) Accreditation Current First Aid & CPR Certificate, Working with Children Check, and National Police Check.
Understanding of how exercise assists the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and endrocrine systems Knowledge of biomechanics, physiology, psychology and nutrition Ability to conduct and develop health and physical assessments, programs and treatment plans including exercise prescription and patient reviews / follow-ups Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to build professional relationships with clients, GPs, nurses, specialists and other allied health professionals Ability to act with courtesy, professionalism and across the community Flexibility, adaptability and skill in relating to customer concerns Reliability, punctuality and excellent standards of personal grooming Proven track record of sustaining busy caseloads.
