Together with The Hospital Research Foundation, BiomeBank is pioneering gut microbial therapeutic research and development in Australia. With a brand-new stool processing and research laboratory established in Thebarton, South Australia, BiomeBank is looking for a laboratory technician – with microbiology training, to join the team About the Role In this role, your responsibilities will include working closely with the BiomeBank team to adhere to good manufacturing practices to ensure that we deliver a high quality faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) product to patients.
Your key responsibilities will include: Regular processing of stool for FMT in a GMP laboratory, which will require: An ability to work in an anaerobic chamber often and for extended periods of time Recording of processes accurately Participate in packaging, picking and shipment procedures Arranging maintenance of GMP laboratory equipment Cleaning and maintenance of GMP laboratory and donation facility Revision and creation of laboratory and stool processing documentation Assist with inventory management Participate in regular stock take activities Material inspection of items received Ordering of laboratory items as required Preparation of faecal samples for analysis and anaerobic culturing inoculation and isolation of microbial colonies, confirmatory tests on microorganisms, recording and analysing of results and findings Preparation of laboratory reports Office-based work including the development and ongoing review of laboratory processes to ensure compliance with operational quality standards and procedures and continual process improvement. Reporting directly to the Production Manager to ensure targets are met You will be a team player with excellent communication skills that will ensure the ongoing development of a strong culture within BiomeBank. You will be prepared to work hard and innovate to help BiomeBank achieve its mission of replenishing the human gut’s missing microbes.
Skills, experience and attributes required for this role: Bachelor Degree or higher qualification in microbiology, molecular biology or related field from a recognised tertiary institution Experience or knowledge of working in a GMP certified clean room microbiology laboratory, with a sound knowledge of GMP principles Experience in aseptic techniques, media preparation, culturing, molecular techniques such as PCR and sample preparation for genomic sequencing (microbiome analysis) Excellent organisational and time management skills Ability to work in an anaerobic chamber for extended periods of time Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to....
