Behaviour Support Practitioner
About the role VMCH have an opportunity for an experienced Allied Health professional who has the necessary training and experience in behaviour support to deliver NDIS funded services to support young people and adult clients who have complex needs and challenging behaviours. This role will be based from Wantirna with some travel (mainly the Eastern Metropolitan region), however, clients can also be seen via telehealth. Provide specialist assessment and intervention services including functional behaviour assessment, writing and development of behaviour support plans and discipline-specific assessments and interventions.
Deliver specialist services for capacity building under NDIS plans Provide clinical services that include behaviour support, development of support plans and therapeutic interventions Engage with clients to develop effective clinical intervention and therapeutic treatments Prepare detailed reporting, adhering to the NDIS reporting framework Train and support VMCH staff to develop and implement positive behaviour support strategies Skills & experience Relevant tertiary qualification/s including –Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Social Work with current registration with the relevant professional body of Australia e.g. AHPRA 2 years of experience in the disability field with clients who have significant complex support needs Experience in functional behaviour assessment and behaviour support plan development and writing including risk strategies and skills development planning for young people and adults Knowledge and understanding of NDIS plans and funding Excellent communication and time management skills Knowledge of a broad range of psychological issues and effective treatment modalities Experience in the delivery of behaviour support services with clients subject to restrictive interventions is desirable.
