Legal Policy Officer A role with broad reaching impact Challenging and engaging role VPSG4, Fixed Term until August 2021 The Legal Policy Officer supports and assists the Manager Sector Governance and Legislation in the provision of strategic and authoritative legal and policy advice to the Director Policy and Performance, Senior Executives and the Minister on time critical multi-agency issues, including projects dealing with Whole of Government matters. Key accountabilities include: Prepare briefs, discussion papers, and reports as required for the Director, Minister, Secretary and other senior EMV and departmental officers on complex and sensitive issues. Provide strategic policy advice to the Director, and other senior EMV and Departmental officers and the Minister on a wide variety of issues related to emergency management in Victoria.
Undertake complex, sensitive research, analyse complex policy development and delivery issues and risks including the identification and resolution of emerging issues, risks and trends impacting on the achievement of key government and departmental objectives. Assist in the development and implementation of policy and legislative proposals through consultation and negotiation in relation to options for legislative change and the preparation of Cabinet and Parliamentary documentation. To be successful you will have: Strong stakeholder management experience with a broad range of external and internal stakeholders; Ability to maintain focus and energy in periods of high intensity and pressure; Strong influencing and negotiation skills which enable the achievement of shared outcomes.
