The Role Joining a large team of experienced local GPs, you will be supported by a full range of visiting specialists and experienced practice staff. With the ability to practice the full scope of rural medicine, as well as providing medical services to the recently redeveloped Port Augusta Hospital, this role gives you the opportunity to practise a wide range of medicine. As an accredited teaching practice, suitably qualified GPs can add diversity to the role by supervising registrars and medical students.
Standard work hours include up to 10 sessions per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5pm. Emergency and after hours on call services to the Port Augusta Hospital is shared with the team. The shared roster is generally 1 day per week and 1 weekend per month.
Eligible for medical registration with AHPRA MBBS or equivalent. Emergency medicine experience, or willingness to upskill Ability to gain credentials as a General Practitioner in the clinical domain of GP Medicine (emergency medicine) for the Port Lincoln Hospital. A postgraduate qualification relevant to general practice (e.
g. Diploma of Child Health, Diploma in Obstetrics) is desirable, but not essential. The Practice Old Base Medical Centre provides high quality health care to the patients of Port Augusta, and surrounding communities.
The Practice is currently staffed by a highly experienced team of local GPs and an extensive support team including Practice Manager, practice nurses and administrative staff. A full range of allied health specialists are available locally, including: Physiotherapist Dentist Podiatrist Optometrist. The Port Augusta Hospital is a large modern facility with 82 acute beds, and services the residents of Port Augusta and the surrounding communities.
It provides services including: 24 hour Accident & Emergency 2 operating Theatres Specialist consulting rooms Renal dialysis Radiology Pathology Paediatric and Neonatal Obstetric and Gynaecology The Town MMM4 DPA Port Augusta is a large rural city located at the head of the Spencer Gulf, only a short 1 hour flight to Adelaide.
