Casual Administrative Officer
School of Social Science Comprising of the disciplines of anthropology, archaeology, criminology and sociology - is one of the largest Schools of its type in Australia with over 45 academic staff members and around 900 equivalent full-time students including 100 higher degree students. At the undergraduate level, the School manages the Bachelor of Social Science, the Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (Honours), and also offers majors in each discipline within the Bachelor of Arts, along with an archaeological science major in the Bachelor of Science. The School manages postgraduate coursework programs in Development Practice, Community Development, Museum Studies, and Heritage Management.
About This Opportunity The School of Social Science is seeking a casual Administrative Officer to join their team providing support for the day-to-day operations of research projects in the School of Social Science, Crime and Justice Group. The position will assist in ensuring financial and contractual procedures within the university are met to secure future research opportunities and to report on existing projects. The position will be working closely with a small specialised group of researchers within the School.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Draw financial reports from University systems to monitor use of research funds in line with approved budgets and grant conditions Prepare budget forecasts as part of ongoing project management or new funding submissions Liaise with the Faculty Management Accountant to update project forecasts appearing on UQ finance systems, action required journals and complete audits as required by agreements Maintain a tracking register of grants/research projects Monitoring milestones in grant agreements Any additional duties as reasonably directed by the supervisor. Our Ideal Candidate The successful applicant will possess a high level of proficiency in the use of UQ systems including Reportal, My Balance, and UniFi and a variety of enquiry, accounting, spreadsheet, database, word processing, and email and internet software. You will have demonstrated experience in preparing and monitoring budgets, interpreting financial reports along with developing and implementing administrative procedures to assist in financial project management and tracking of milestones.
