Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation. An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at the Spinal Rehabilitation Facility.

We are a part of the rehabilitation component of the Victorian Spinal Cord Service (VSCS), which also provides acute and community based services for people who sustain traumatic and non-traumatic spinal cord injuries in Victoria, Tasmania and southern NSW. We are a 20 bed ward located at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre in Kew. If you are successful you will be joining a highly specialised team and further develop essential nursing skill set in the rehabilitation setting.

You will be supported by our very friendly staff and our highly experienced Clinical Education Unit. You will learn and consolidate skills such Primary Nursing, bladder & bowel management, respiratory management and wound management amongst many others. We are seeking a passionate and committed worker who shares the Austin Health Values and has a willingness to learn and deliver a high standard of care at all times.

Details of the local environment The Registered Nurse in Spinal Rehab is a highly respected position that involves assisting people with spinal cord injuries to be the best that they can be, and to assist them to assimilate back into a meaningful and productive life back in the community. The registered Nurse will participate in team and family / goal planning meetings, and will have a strong advocacy for patients and their families. The role requires the Registered Nurse to have a team orientated approach.

The Registered Nurse works with the multidisciplinary team to assist the patient to work towards a common goal, that involves complex discharge planning.
