Clinical Nurse (Mornington Island)
The North West Hospital and Health Services (NWHHS) is responsible for the public sector health services in the North West region. The NWHHS covers an area of approximately 300,000 square kilometres and services many of the remote communities within North Western Queensland and the Gulf of Carpentaria. The North West ATODS is a specialist service that provides a range of treatments for the severe and complex drug and alcohol individuals and families. North West ATODS provides a range of community based AOD programs and a Consultation Liaison service which include; Assessment & referral Counselling & Group Programs Support & Case Management Information and education Pharmacotherapy Specialist AOD Training for service providers. The role Provide a comprehensive range of drug & alcohol nursing services including intake assessment , drug and alcohol brief intervention treatment ,formulation of treatment plans ,treatment evaluation including specialist nursing psycho-social assessment & intervention for consumers with substance use disorders and dual diagnosis or co-occurring mental health (MH) and alcohol and other drug (AOD) problems and their families with multiple and complex needs, within a multidisciplinary team frame work.
Maintain a clinical caseload and the provision of medico-legally sound documentation ensuring adequate and appropriate case records and statistics are kept. Contribute to clinical education pertaining to interventions for substance use disorders and Individuals experiencing dual diagnosis or co-occurring mental health (MH) and alcohol and other drug (AOD) problems and complex needs within the multidisciplinary team for students and less experienced staff with the assistance of senior clinical staff. Some roles within Queensland Health are designated as Vaccination Preventable Disease (VPD) risk roles. This is a VPD risk role. The successful applicant must hold Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a registered nurse and have possession of a current annual practising certificate.
