Cyber Security Engineer

A large government client is looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join their Group IT team for a 12 month contract. The purpose for the role is in maintaining and maturing the Cyber Security tools and infrastructure that provide monitoring and alerting functions. The engineer will take ownership of ensuring the tools are operational, the saturation of their functions increase across the infrastructure and will execute the tuning of the tool-sets to provide actionable tasks and reports.

The role will also play key role in incident response by taking the lead in managing the incident to resolution, leveraging the Cyber Security tools available. Key Accountabilities: Working with existing tools and processes to tune the clients cyber security tools to reduce noise and identify threats and incidents in a timely fashion. Maintenance and maturity - Ensure the systems, technical processes and system diagrams that are used by the DTR team are up to date, supported by the respective vendor and follow best practice.

Incident Response - Work with different teams to enhance cyber response capabilities. Take a lead in managing a response to a cyber incident. Domain knowledge - Provides security expertise in different operational domains to ensure security controls are implemented, maintained and well understood as pertinent within each infrastructure discipline.

Teamwork - Work cooperatively within the team, exchange information and assist other team members to achieve team objectives and work outcomes. Experience Required: Demonstrated experience in the management, deployment and design of technical tools (SIEM, Vulnerability Assessment, Content Filtering, IDS/IPS, Firewalls). Demonstrated experience in IT technologies including networking, operating systems, application stacks, and hardware.

Strong collaborative and influencing skills. Must be able to deliver outcomes by working in collaboration with internal and external teams, building strong relationships. Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure.
