The Technical Lead – Rail Husbandry is required to provide technical expertise across maintenance, renewals, upgrades, and construction works that fall under their area of expertise. They are required to have an in depth understanding of Wheel / Rail interaction and lubrication principles, together with an understanding of the management of rail husbandry techniques to ensure the optimisation of rail assets. They are required to apply their expertise to all works thereby ensuring the output is delivered safely and as efficiently as possible.

Main duties: Manage the technical requirements related to the application of rail profiles across the network Manage technical requirements related to lubrication and lubrication design processes Adoption of cutting-edge technology for the evaluation of wheel/rail interaction practices Provide technical support in maintenance, renewals, upgrades and constructions works Seek and implement innovative methods of improving production and safety Support the delivery of works by assisting with planning, project management, work methodology and implementation of works on site to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely and complies with designs and Metro Trains’ standards, specifications, and procedures Ensure inspections are completed in accordance with the Technical Maintenance Plan Monitor the quality of works undertaken and ensure corrective actions are undertaken where deficiencies are identified Assist with investigations and review all investigation reports related to wheel/rail interaction and lubrication as required Identify and support Engineering in type approvals of all infrastructure assets Perform risk assessments of processes, work practices, materials, suppliers and innovations to ensure inspections and work is delivered as efficiently and safely as possible Qualifications, skills and experience: Technical Qualification in Civil or Mechanical Engineering - mandatory Technical tertiary qualification or Certificate IV in a designated rail related discipline - mandatory Manual driver’s license – desirable First Aid Level 2 – desirable Train Track Safety Awareness Certificate – mandatory This is a fantastic opportunity to build on the career you've developed to date and take it to the next level by making a tangible impact that matters.
