National Production Planning & Operations Lead
The primary responsibilities for this role are to deliver operational response planning, based on the National Weather and Hazard Outlooks. You will liaise with leaders across NPS, EPS, DSS and as required, with the Business Solutions Group (BSG) to ensure that appropriate resources are activated as required, with sufficient lead time. In addition to the responsibility for short term (days 1-7) capability allocation, you will monitor and plan for longer term (weeks, months, seasonal) operational capacity.
This includes standard operations, seasonally based operations, and rosters developed in response to weather events and hazards and in support of incident management teams. In this role you will work autonomously to deliver on the Bureau's strategic objectives as it relates to meeting operational capability requirements and contribute to the achievement of delivering world class meteorological services, that connect seamlessly and coherently within the Bureau's national footprint. You will provide day to day supervision of the Training Coordination and Rostering & Administration resources.
A critical component of this role is to work alongside the National Operations Training Lead and the Bureau of Meteorology Training Centre (BMTC) to coordinate the maintenance of operational training with competency and capability registers. This spans all CSG functions and ensures our people are always striving to improve their expertise and knowledge. Working with the NPS - Service Development and Integration (SDI) teams you will coordinate the development and maintenance of nationally standardised (where appropriate) operational policy, processes and procedures.
You will have direct responsibility in management of the NPS and coordination across DSS and EPS standard operating procedures. In accordance with assessed risk and impact levels, this includes the development and implementation of stand-up arrangements, policies and processes across both CSG and BSG. You will have direct responsibility for Business Continuity Procedures (BCP) for NPS and will also coordinate BCPs across DSS & EPS.
The key duties of the position include Demonstrate an awareness of the daily weather status and / or unfolding severe weather events. • Deliver an operating rhythm that enables the NOCT to make timely decisions for operational requirements. • Investigate the availability and readiness of enterprise resources for incident management and operational support.
• Coordination of a national rostering system across CSG. • Development of operational response plans. • Provide tactical leadership across the team whilst collaborating with management to support operations.
