Fostering Support Workers
Churches of Christ in Queensland, Children, Youth and Families, Maryborough Permanent, full-time opportunity About the role In this rewarding role your primary responsibility will be to recruit, train and support foster carers and monitor the quality of care being provided to children and young people placed in family-based placements. Your daily duties will be diverse but in essence will include: Developing, implementing and conducting the recruitment for the fostering service, as part of a team; conducting initial interviews, conducting pre-service training, monitoring and assessing ongoing carer suitability; Plan and action placements for children and young people, schedule and facilitate initial and ongoing care plan meetings; Assist with the transition of children and young people entering or exiting from placements. You will be required to work varying shifts between the hours of 6am and 8pm.
There will also be occasional weekend work and you should flexibility and ability to work outisde regular hours. About you You are passionate about the welfare of children and achieving the absolute best outcomes for them. With an empathetic nature you are compassionate toward vulnerable individuals.
You are approachable, and a good problem solver who can think quickly on your feet to make sound decisions. Excellent interpersonal skills are part of your skillset enabling you to build rapport with internal and external people and stakeholders easily. In addition, you have comprehensive knowledge of legislative requirements and can promote a culture of compliance.
To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of: Certificate III in Protective Care, Youth or Community Services and/or related experience with a willingness to participate in further training; Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks including knowledge of The Child Protection Act 1999. Demonstrated experience in providing training to adults and a range of supports including positive behaviour management and stress management strategies.
