Process Engineer



Work with one of the largest solar salt operations in Australia Karratha based role, 40 hour week, Monday to Friday 6-12 month contract About The Role WorkPac are looking for a Process Engineer to join Dampier Salt's operations team in Karratha, assisting with process monitoring, operational improvements, harvest planning and reporting. Dampier Salt operates 3 largest solar salt operations in Australia with the capacity in excess of 10 million tonnes per year. The salt is growing with almost no help beyond solar energy and wind with clean Indian Ocean seawater as the infinite source of sodium chloride.

The process of salt production is known for centuries if not thousands of years and is pretty straight-forward. What presents the challenge is the scale of salt production, ability to achieve high quality and consistently meeting customer requirements economically. Duties & Responsibilities Daily, weekly and monthly reporting of salt stock, quality and production.

Process monitoring and determining appropriate operational set points for the wash plant process, consisting of screens, classifiers and centrifuges. Assist with operational troubleshooting, trial work and debottlenecking investigations. Provide quality verification through sample analysis, modelling and reporting.

Maintain process flowsheets and provide governance for change management. Skills & Experience Tertiary qualification in metallurgy, chemical or process engineering. Proven experience in the mining or salt processing industry.

Technical troubleshooting, research and analysis skills. Skilled user of Microsoft Excel and modelling software. Able to adapt and work in a dynamic team environment.
