Exciting new opportunity within the Communication and Engagement team. Sydney CBD Location Be part of Australia's Largest Transport Infrastructure Project Sydney Metro is Australia's biggest public transport project. Services started in May 2019 in the city's North West and will extend into the Sydney CBD and beyond to Bankstown in 2024, when Sydney will have 31 metro railway stations on a standalone new railway system.

Transport for NSW is delivering a once-in-a-century investment in new infrastructure and services, including Sydney Metro. Sydney's first metro line opened in May 2019; by 2024, Sydney will have 31 metro stations and a new 66km metro railway. Planning is also underway for a metro line linking Greater Parramatta to the Sydney CBD and a line servicing the new Western Sydney International Airport.

As a NSW Government agency, Sydney Metro has been tasked with developing and delivering metro railways and managing their operations. Sydney Metro also leads the development of vibrant station precincts to meet customer and community needs, transforming the way Sydney travels and helping shape the future of Australia's largest city. The opportunity Reporting to the director, Public Affairs.

The primary purpose of the role is to lead public affairs and issues management as an embedded resource within a Sydney Metro project workstream, working with the Director Public Affairs to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the reputation of Sydney Metro. The role develops, reviews and maintains effective public affairs and issues management strategies and leads responses to the media. Please click here to view a copy of the position description.

What you will be involved with Providing critical and proactive communication advice including monitoring media, preparing material for public engagements and responding to media issues. Coordinating a broad range of public affairs activities including: Timely and accurate responses to media inquiries (preparing and issuing media statements - with appropriate prior approval), proactive media milestones at a project level and media monitoring - including the dissemination of summary information across Sydney Metro. Coordinating event management preparation for public appearances and write material for public speaking by senior management, to ensure event objectives are achieved.

Photo Library coordination. Supporting the management of major media and critical issues by researching and preparing media releases and media responses. Building effective and collaborative relationships with the Ministers' offices, media representatives, managers across Sydney Metro and other media and communications staff.

About you Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a public relations, communications and media environment. Strong coordination and organisational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
