The Exercise Physiologist position will work collaboratively with other team members (Clinical Nurse Consultant, Dietician and Peer Support Worker) to develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness and acceptability of an innovative targeted lifestyle and pharmacological interventions to reduce cardio-metabolic risk factors in consumers with mental illness. Specifically, the position will contribute to a holistic assessment of the consumer's physical health, developing an individualised and tailored exercise program to meet the consumer's physical health needs and evaluate the effectiveness and acceptability of the program. The position will contribute to the development of resources for consumers, their families and carers and clinicians.
The position will also participate in the development, delivery and evaluation of training to mental health clinicians, GPs and other key stakeholders. The position will provide clinical consultation and targeted education to build capacity in the mental health program. The team will be led by the Clinical Coordinator KBIM, Sutherland Hospital.

Selection Criteria Accredited through Exercise Sports Science, Australia. Demonstrated clinical experience as an accredited exercise physiologist, with consumers with mental illness.
Demonstrated ability to work under minimal direct professional supervision and exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to consumers with mental illness, carers, mental health service staff and other associated persons/services. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
