The position is primarily involved in providing Orthoptic services to the StEPS Clinics (The clinics operate on Friday, 9 full day per calendar year). You will be working part of a multidisciplinary team in the Eye Clinic at Prince of Wales Hospital/ Lions Eye Clinic for Children predominately to provide quality Orthoptic and ophthalmic care to StEPS paediatric outpatients. On occasion the position may also provide orthoptic and ophthalmic care to Adult Inpatients and Outpatients.
The position participates in service planning and evaluation participating in quality improvement activities. Where you'll be working Prince of Wales Hospital - Eye Clinic. Plan, coordinate and deliver high quality orthoptic care to patients of the Orthoptic Department consistent with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards. Selection Criteria Must hold a Diploma or Bachelor of Applied Science (Orthoptics), Masters in Orthoptics or equivalent with eligibility for registration with the Orthoptic Board of Australia.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the investigation and management of adult and paediatric patients with strabismus and ocular motility disorders within commensurate years of experience. Demonstrated knowledge and ability in ophthalmic assisting including perimetry, OCT, Pentacam, refraction, IOL Master Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters, commensurate with years of experience.
