APS5 Cabinet Liaison Officer
Position available with an experienced APS member to join a busy Cabinet Liaison team Your new company This Department is currently seeking an APS5 Cabinet Liaison Officer to join their busy and thriving team. This position is available as a non-ongoing role or S.26 Transfer.
To be eligible for the S.26 transfer you must currently substantively hold a position within the Federal Government. Your new role You will be primarily responsible for brokering solutions for time-sensitive Cabinet business; and shaping approaches on a range of proposals, in close cooperation with the Ministers' offices, the Secretary and Deputy Secretaries.
You will be essential in ensuring the accuracy of Cabinet and Committee submissions in line with ministerial preferences, and ensure line areas are equipped to deliver succinct, well-contested drafts in time to meet Cabinet deadlines. Your day to day duties will include: Work proactively with key areas to shape approaches to Cabinet and its committees and plan the development of submissions. Maintain highly effective internal and external working relationships Assist line areas strategically to develop their submissions, hone their drafting skills and consult with stakeholders.
Assist the Director(s) to coordinate high quality briefings for ministers and the Secretary, including by checking that briefing documents are clear, concise and articulate, and convey the key issues relevant to the department and minister(s). Develop reporting for the Departmental Executive on Cabinet functions Manage the department's Cabinet documentation in a secure and appropriate manner Respond accurately and proactively to requests for support, information and advice on Cabinet processes and submissions, Arrange secretariat support for the Secretary's participation in internal cabinet planning meetings Experience in the use of the Parliamentary Document Management System and CabNet, and a demonstrated working knowledge of these systems is necessary for this role. What you'll need to succeed You will currently be working as a permanent member of the APS and have ministerial, secretariat and parliamentary administration experience.
You will understand how to facilitate and manage the lodgement and progress of Cabinet and Cabinet Committee material within the department and portfolio, and manage the flow of classified material into and out of the Department. As the successful applicant you will have the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels, strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure on complex and wide-ranging issues.
